Howdy folks,
So my old push pull has had this little quirk for awhile, in that my LKR lever (raising 1/lowering 6) has a bit of a "click" to it when actuated quickly. It plays fine so I never really dug into it, but I've had a few days at home lately and flipped it over to look.
Looks like the short pull rod on that lever is cut just a little long, and when it gets hit quickly, it sometimes makes contact with the end plate. It's worn itself a little groove already, which you can see better zoomed in here:
No major deal, but I'd like to take care of it without disassembling anything. Any reason I can't find a file that fits and grind it down by hand until the friction stops? It's a pretty tight space in there so I'd have to find the right tool and angle... any other suggestions? |

| Remove the screws from the bracket. Then you can lift the rod enough to dress it down or cut it off with a common side cutter plier. I think. |

| A Dremel cutoff wheel would have been my first call but I sure like the idea of a cutter better. |

Geeze, looks like it's only hitting a tiny bit. Two pairs of pliers, grip one right against the collar, one near the end of the rod, do a gentle upward bend...no more than 1/8". About 15 seconds and the job is done!

| .....or depending on the change, it’s possible that you can just loosen all the collars and slide the rod a 1/4†back toward the changer. Then re-set & re- tighten the collars |

Thanks fellas. Appreciate all the suggestions. Snipped off the rod a touch and that helped, but what I didn’t realize was that there was a hang up on the bracket itself as well. So, not out of the woods yet... I’ve got a set of precision mini files coming today, hoping I can file out just enough of the offensive part of the bracket that everything flows smooth.

Ben follow what Tony said, then no cutting or filing just readjusting the rod back towards the changer and re tightening the collar set screws. We can face time or Zoom if we need to. Call me 971-219-8533.

Thanks Larry, I sure appreciate the offer.
I spent a few more minutes under the hood... as mentioned, I did clip that rod just a touch to eliminate the contact with the end plate, and since that didn't completely fix it, I popped the collar off and pulled the bracket, and filed it down enough so the rod seems to have plenty of play/room to move - so it's a little better, and yet it's still "clicking" somewhere.

I know it's not rocket science, but since my push pull knowledge is more limited than all pull, I'm not sure where to look next. The guitar does still play fine, but this has been creeping and bugging me now for a little while, as all the other knee levers are completely smooth.
Any more thoughts from the push pull people out there?

| Is that hole in the bracket not worn into a slot causing the rod to be able to hit the endplate. Maybe you need a new bracket rather than working on the rod. Just sayin. |

Thanks Larry, if I have some time this weekend I might just do that.
Danny - no more issues with the end plate or the bracket, at least I don't think... it seems like there's a little hitch somewhere else in the pull train, I just gotta track it down...
