From talking to Ollie Strong, who lives close by and often visited the shop, it sounds like Ed did everything himself. If that's the case its probably the end of Fulawka.

I had contact with Ed before he passed and had a guitar on order. When he was in the hospital I reached a fella named Al who said he was helping Ed in his shop. Al also said in the event of Ed's passing he would continue to build under the name. However, after a few emails and attempts to reach Al over quite a period of time with no success I have had to conclude I think the company is no longer active.

Nathan , would that have been Al Brisco. he might have been talking about. if i,am not mistaken Al.worked with Ed in his younger years. at the Fulawka shop. you would get Al at Steel Guitars Of Canada. Al builds Carter guitars and is a great steel player.hope this helps.

No, it wasn't Al Brisco from Steel Guitars of Canada. I believe his last name Antos. Nice guy. Just lost touch with him. My thoughts are perhaps the gig is a lot of work without much financial gain unless you can pump them out in more an assembly line fashion and maybe he had a change of heart? Just my guess.

Ed's guitars had a lot of hand made parts.
To take on that project wouldn't be for the faint of heart.
Ed looked on his guitars like his children.
I had a Fulawka and wanted some parts to add to it.
I had to talk long and hard to get Ed to send them to me.
He didn't want just anybody fooling around with his kids. Very Happy

Ed was very much a one man show. I think he made nearly every part and did all the finish work himself. Unless he had mentored someone along the way, Id guess its unlikely we will see another New Fulawka.

Maybe when enough time has passed , someone close to the family could ask about any parts the family might like to make available to anyone who owns a Fulawka, and needs something.

The way Ed made everything himself, it would surprise me if he had left a large stock of extra parts. This is all pure speculation, and I hope its not inappropriate on my part.

R.I.P. my friend, thank you for your friendship and all your contributions. Ed was a unique guy, and quite a gifted craftsman.

I talked to Ollie Strong a couple of months ago. Ollie was close with Ed. Ed didn't have any relatives and there is another person that was involved with the guitar at the end. He left everything to that person. He is more "progressive" than Ed, who did everything by hand, and is pursuing CNC production of some of the parts. I have no info other than this.

I understand, from talking to Ollie last week that whoever was helping Ed has all the equipment and will start production on the Fulawka when he gets his own shop set up. Ollie said that moving everything from Ed's shop to the new shop would be quite a task.
I believe that Fulawka will be back in production after the move.

Ive talked to this person. Alexander is his name. Nice man. He built the last fulawka under eds supervision as well he helped Ed out in his last year's. He has all the equipment moved but its all in storage in a garage and was waiting for spring to get his actual shop setup.

The new owner of Fulawka Guitars is Alek Antos , and is operating under the name of Fulawka Legacy Guitars ... all the machines etc have been moved to his new shop and and he has just completed rebuilding them all and hopes to be in operation very soon! And yes Alec and Eddie built one guitar together prior to Edâ€™s passing

Just curious - anybody, is Fulawka a name of indigenous people origin or some other ethnicity?
I think I recall seeing a "How it's Made" show on Fulawka PSG.
