Jim Hoke chimed in on Mike Perlowins thread about classical music and the steel guitar and he seemed very humble...he also mentioned his playing on the"Otto"cd.So I emailed Jim and asked him how I could purchase a CD I was intrigued,he also asked what kind f music I liked?I haven't touched my instruments in a few weeks,I've been dealing with my usual doctor,and veterinarian visits and taking care of a cat and a couple of chickens,and a rooster...Jim's CD arrived late yesterday afternoon,The only decent stereo that I own is in my car,So a short While ago I decided to pop in the "Otto CD"on my drive to the supermarket...Jim claims that he's not a great steel player?I beg to differ!This CD has totally blown me away unlike anything I've ever heard.Do yourself a favor and get in touch with Jim and buy this amazing CD.

| +1 on that John. I performed that song a few times live, and for awhile copied the solo note for note- such a lyrical, pedal steel-cliche-free bit. Wonderful guy, and such a creative musical mind. |

| Thanks for the kind words, gentlemen! Nice to hear that McCartney tune again - one of the most fun sessions I ever got to do, thanks to producer and great musician Phil Madiera. I tell ya tho, I really wish I'd used a little vibrato in there.... that was a nice Carter I traded a Sho Bud Super Pro to Bobbe Seymour for. Thanks again for the shout-out. Stay safe! |

| Thanks bOb! Matter o' fact, I'm getting ready to play some cello/steel duets with my son Austin this Saturday at a steel guitar event that Russ Pahl is putting together. He's got me, Luke Schneider, Dan Dugmore and several others playing short sets at The Blue Room. Austin and I will be doing some Otto-like material and a few pop classics. We'll be recording soon... |

That Lee Ann Womack track is terrific: just as I love to hear E9 played. (I guess you may tell me 'It's not E9, but another tuning entirely..' but it sounds like really musical use of the top neck to me.  )

| I watched the livestream of the steel guitar arts council and Jim's performance with his son blew me away. Absolutely fantastic - truly musical playing, great songs, perfect duo arrangements. "Jim Hoke OMG!!!" is the appropriate sentiment. |

Jim Hoke is a Nashville treasure. He plays so many instruments well. His approach to steel guitar is so refreshing. There’s a freedom in his playing that I envy!
