I'm without words to express my feelings for Pat and Sandy. This really hits home for the local community of friends and family. I respected Pat as not only a good friend but an incredible steel player and local hero. My heart is heavy with sadness and I can only pray for his family. God bless you Pat Heller, you are in my prayers and thoughts.

I'm really heartbroken to hear this.
Pat has been a friend for nearly fifty years. Prayers of comfort for Sandy and the family.

I'm saddened to hear of Pat's death. I've known him all of my life. His Dad, Pat Sr. and my Dad, Carl Lorenz were good friends and band mates. As a young guy Pat, Jr. played steel guitar in that band for many years. I grew up going with my Dad to dance halls and clubs, many evenings I'd sit on Pat's Fender amp and watch him play.
Time with his family at their Lake Wappapella house are some of my fondest memories. I'll miss him. I'm so sorry, Sandy. ~ Christine Lorenz Bolin

Sandy, I am so so sorry to hear this. Having lost my own husband many years ago I know exactly how you feel. I shall always remember Pat as a very funny person and a talented musician. God bless you and your family.

Got to see Pat play several years ago at the Mt. Vernon Illinois Steel Show. I remember him having a great arrangement of "Wills Point"

Oh no !!

I had prayed for better news.

My gut just incurred the swiftest of kicks.

Pat was
a Viet Nam vet,
a mentor,
a pedal steel technician,
a Master Player,
and a great friend

Prayers for Sandy and Pat's family.

I had known Pat for years although we lived states
apart. He always went out of his way to talk with
me. I always respected his playing and took his advice about my playing.

Wish we had lived closer together.. I will miss him.

Pat will be sorely missed. He was our best player around here and such a great guy and what a story teller. Hearts are broken. Pat's final gig was in a setting where he was most likely exposed to the virus in a dense crowd of people not taking it seriously. If people were taking it seriously, Pat would very likely still be with us.

Sad and angry

Yes, sad it had to end this way. I didn't really know Pat, but I remember him in support of the early ISGC shows and I believe he played some of them. He was listed in the convention programs.

I'm sorry to see another steel guitar brother fall victim to this sickness.

please wear a mask. just do it. it won't kill you. 😷
