I'm looking for some advice on this subject.
I have a pair of 1960s Carvin 8 string pickups but the mounting covers are plastic and broken. I guess I could make a similar cover out of aluminum or wood....at this point I want to buy a pair of replacement pickups. I working on an old home made pedal steel guitar that I started in 1966...tinkered with it for 6 months...made a lot of hardware for it and then I quit playing steel guitar.
I just dug this out from under a work bench in April 2020 and decided to make it playable. I was going to make one neck a Dobro 8 string with a smaller cone etc...but decided to just put a g tuning on this neck. Top to bottom strings...DBGDBGFE.
See a couple photos...

You could also look at Scott Swartz' pickups, he has 2 basic models now and can accommodate different string spacings
