That MCI looks strange and different. It has the Decal on the back apron. Like to see the front apron and see if it has a Decal too. On the opposite corner.

Any pros/cons to the "headless" tuning system of the Sierra? I've only ever had guitars with standard tuners.
Any gotcha's I should watch out for with the Sierra? |

the keyless tuners take a little getting used to. you'll need an implement of some kind to pull the string tight around the tuner, but there's not much more to it than that.
you can almost certainly get a replacement knee lever from Jim Palenscar (North County Steels), he inherited all the old Sierra parts. the company is no longer in Oregon and the new Sierra is a completely different guitar designed and built by someone else. _________________ 1965 Emmons S-10, 3x5 • Emmons LLIII D-10, 10x12 • JCH D-10, 10x12 • Beard MA-8 • Oahu Tonemaster |

I don't think the MCI is set up for left handed playing. It looks like someone just put an MCI decal on the left rear apron for some reason. I would ask for more pictures to confirm.
BTW: There is another MCI with almost the same serial number, but a few more knee levers, for sale here on the forum, for a couple hundred dollars less.
The MCI on Reverb is in Peublo, CO and he won't ship. The MCI here on the forum is in Ohio, and he will ship.
I would take either of the MCIs over the Sierra. _________________ It don't mean a thing if it ain't got that swing. |

Paul is right. If you look at the right end plate, you can see the step-up from the back neck to the front. And, a left handed guitar would have the tuning keys on the right end of the guitar. _________________ Carter D10 8p/8k, Dekley S10 3p/4k C6 setup,Regal RD40 Dobro, Recording King Professional Dobro, NV400, NV112,Ibanez Gio guitar, Epiphone SG Special (open D slide guitar) . I must been half asleep last night. It is not set up left handed. There is better pictures if you enlarge them.
The guitar is set up right handed.
With closer examination, Someone put the Decal on Left Rear corner of the steel. The Decal should have been put on Right Front corner for a right hand steel. On the Changer end.
I Goofed. |
