I just picked up a 2008 Peavey Nashville 112 from the pawn shop for a hundred bucks. It was in great shape other than they told me the reverb doesn't work. I bring it home and look at the tank and the problem lies in the reverb output cable wire isn't connected to the tip that plugs into the reverb tank. I'm assuming that's just a normal RCA cable ending? An RCA cable fits in there. So I could just cut that wire and with a crimp connector attach the end of an RCA cable on it right? Or am I mistaken? Thanks

Whoa, $100? Score!

The plug that goes into the output jack is the same design as the input plug... so take a look at that and mimic it on the output plug you're fixing.

Yeah it was an incredible deal because they thought it was broken , but the problem is just this wire. The issue is that the actual wire goes inside the tip that plugs into the reverb tank, but there's no way to get a soldering iron down in there. So I think I have to replace the tip all together. I cut open an old RCA cable that I have and the wire gauge is much thinner than the one on the amp. I hooked them together and the reverb works and it sounds great, but it's only a temporary fix. I need to find something permanent now. I just need to find some kind of cable that I can use that has a similar wire gauge, because I'm assuming using a thin gauge, even though it's only for about an inch, can affect the sound. Maybe I'm wrong. If it's fine the way it is I will just crimp it and heat shrink it

I picked up a free Fender amp 2 months ago that was "defective" and being thrown out. The leads to the reverb tank had been reversed, that was all.

Patching in a short section of smaller guage RCA lead will be fine

Okay. I think I will secure it all and heat shrink it. I've been playing through the amp for the past 2 hours and it really does sound great the way it is.

Glad you got it working. You can probably buy a replacement reverb cable direct from Peavey if you ever have problems with your temp fix.

I'll probably end up doing that anyway. Even though you can't see it and it plays fine, knowing that it has all factory parts will give me some more peace of mind.
Thanks for the help

You'll have to call -- they don't have it on their website.

If you're ever going to take the amp out of the house, I HIGHLY recommend you spend $20 and put a knob-guard on that amp. The knob posts are made of the world's cheapest plastic and will snap off if you just look at them funny. Check with George Kimery and see if he has any in stock for you:

I'll definitely do that. I didn't even know knob guards existed. Pretty nifty.
