I'm just listening to a brand new album by my friend Zephaniah Ohora, called "Listening to the Music." Great steel by Jon Graboff, who's really featured a lot on the whole record. The first track also has some cool Clarence White style playing by guitarist John Shannon, who plays a lot of great stuff throughout.

There's an unmistakable Haggard influence, as on his earlier album (Norm Hamlett even plays dobro on a track or two). Really good traditional country writing, singing and playing; I know his debut album got a mention or two on here.

You can hear the album and order downloads, vinyl or CD here:

Amen. Jon's got an intimate relationship with Z.O.'s music, playing on the first album and touring. This is such good stuff. Produced by the late Neal Casal.

This guy pretty much mastered his style! That's not a knock... that's my appreciation of his fine taste and ability to step in the shoes of a legend.

Thanks Pete...What hit me was, “I can actually, no kiddin’ understand what he’s singing and it does take me back to yesteryear and classic country sound! Great job by all with steel not taking a back seat....Thanks again, Carl

I'm really enjoying this tune: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7wkoC0Lud58

It has awesome interplay between steel and 6-string Waylon/Mooney style. With great guitar playing like this, I don't care what the singer sounds like...Even better that the singing's great here too.
