About 2 years ago I acquired a mid-sixties Sho-Bud permanent steel. It had no original parts underneath but did have 3 pedals....kinda.....so I basically had a solid body with a nicely done pad with the keyhead, neck,fretboard and changer all original..lots of honest finish checking....which I like. since I had no original parts I called my friend Jim Flynn for his thoughts on where to go with this guitar. Jim suggested that since I am a rank beginner at age 71...changing this to an all-pull guitar would make it more user friendly for me. so leaving the top of the steel looking the same Jim installed triple raise ..triple lower fingers in the original permanent changer. Jim also used the quiet bushings on the shaft ends. The "ole" Bud is now an all-pull 3 and 4 nice and quiet playing steel. The steel has faded to green but if you look closely under the Sho-Bud decal it was a blue color. The decal reads Sho-Bud ... Tommy Jim Flynn put a new life into this old Bud steel. I really like Jim’s work looks like a new steel underneath an vintage on top.
Congratulations Tommy too you an Jim great job.

I like the Russler pedals looks like the pivot point is better than the old Sho bud pedals more space between end of pedal an pull rod.

| This build from basically a body an no workable undercarriage just goes too show what a skilled steel talented steel builder can do too save a d Bud an give the Bud a new life. |

Hi Tommy,
Great old Sho Bud with a wonderful re-build.
I bet it has killer tone.
Starting pedal steel at age 71 is brave, but if your as fast as me you should have a few tunes down in time for your 100th birthday! 
Jim sure did good by that guitar and he's such a great guy too.

| I saw this guitar today. It's really a unique guitar in that it has such a cool old appearance but underneath is basically a modern steel guitar. The patena on this thing is very cool. Nice axe Tommy. I enjoyed the company and I'm really pleased with the tooled leather looking cabinet you built me. |

All I can say is it worked for me! And almost three years later, here I am happily working on big band turnarounds on the C6th neck from Paul Franklin!
I hope you did see the bit about it being addictive....
