Newbie here. Trying to work out exactly what I want from guitar to accessories. In that vein, I was wondering if any of you have used both the Peterson stroboplus hd and the strobostomp. As a 6 string player ... I am accustomed to using pedal boards. Is either the better pedal steel application?? ... or just what you get use to?

I have the HD. I've never dealt with the stroboplus, so I can't confirm if it has more perks on steel than the HD. I'm assuming not, but I could be wrong!

That being said, the HD, is incredibly easy to use, very visible, very versatile, sturdy, and comes with more tunings and sweetened tunings onboard than you can imagine.

Adam..I own both and both pedals hold certain advantages. The 'StroboPlus HD' does not use a 9V battery system and is charged through a USB port making it rechargeable at home or even in your vehicle. The 'StroboStomp' does however and features a 9V out which allows it to daisy chain your other pedals. Therefore, if you plan on installing your tuner on a pedal board, the 'StroboStomp' may be a better choice.

Thanks guys. I’m gonna go with the strobostomp. I think I’ll like having the tuner on the pedal board for any “in between song” adjustments without having to unplug.

(I only have the Strobostomp HD and a flip but)

I would like to know anyone's got a faster way to flip between SE9 and SP9 than reaching down and hitting the buttons, cause I have to do that a lot. I emailed Peterson and haven't heard back.

Thanks.

Define a lot it sounds like the guitar might have a problem holding tune.

I usually set it on my lap while I tune the pulls so I can switch between SE and SP, and after that I pretty much just put it back to SE9 for quite a while.

Hi Gene,

I answered your question on our Helpdesk but in case you missed it, here it is again:

On the StroboStomp HD, quickly switching preset Sweeteners with your foot is possible using the Remote Preset Selection ("Sweetener Bump") feature.
Activate it as described in this YouTube video.

I got the Strobo Stomp HD. I like it much better than earlier models I've had. I generally tune by ear after setting my roots, but the sweetened tunings get me close to where I want to be when I'm in a rush or if something goes wrong - e.g., break a string. It's easy to see in most lighting, very accurate, and fits on my small pedal board nicely, giving a utility 9VDC negative-center output for an off-board pedal if I need it.

I have a StroboPlus HD and love it. I tune my Extended D9 12 string to E meantone and was able to easily set this up as a custom tuning Winking

I have been using the Strobo Plus HD. I have it clipped to my guitar leg so I can see it easy. I have 20/100 vision, half blind I guess. Best thing I have ever had, as far as a tuner.

Adam,

Just to add......if you're still playing some 6 string, the StroboStomp HD also has some great guitar sweeteners, as well. I like mine a lot, and I'm a bit of a pedal tuner junkie!

Thank you! That is a great feature. And like everything else on the Strobostomp HD, it worked exactly as advertised.

Fellow newb here,
I've had the Strobostomp for several months and really like it. I've been using the C6 tuning sweetener on my lap steel. I really like the response time on it. I've been using it a lot in monitoring mode to hone my intonation. I have it routed out from the tuner jack on my Ernie Ball volume pedal. Big clear screen. The color selection is nice too. I prefer the cool blue.

Got the strobostomp and it is great. Coming from the 6string world ... it just made sense.

Excellent choice. You can log onto their website and update firmware and look at dozens of PSG e9, c6 etc sweeteners uploaded by b0b, Karlis Abolins (discussed recently in forum), Mike Sweeney, Frank Carter (builds Infinities) and many others.

BTW the procedure for flippin between sweeteners that John Norris describes above works great but I also sometimes put it up on a mike stand clamp holder to tune pedals/levers
