My teacher Alan Akaka gave me this duet arrangement to learn a couple weeks ago and I recorded along with the demo track today, using my Magnatone and my Clinesmith. It's not too tricky of an arrangement, nothing exotic or fast, but it lends itself really nicely to the duet (the obligato part of this composition is a favorite of mine).

Your intonation and tone are top notch. Very reminiscent of the era. _________________ Don't go in the water after lunch. You'll get a cramp and drown. - Mother. |

Here's another version I worked out myself about a year ago in C13 (I don't usually keep my guitars tuned to C6A7 or D9) that is a bit more chordal:

Ha! I was just on Spotify listening to the same versions. I think this one by Lani McIntire and his Aloha Islanders is my favourite so far. YouTube’s recording has more crackle than Spotify!

Great job Nic! Love that song. First time I heard it was atmthe HSGA steel convention in Joliet, IL in the early 2000s played by Duke Ching. He does a wonderful version reminiscent of Jules arrangement that really captivated me in B11 tuning. |
