What is the normal distance between the pickup and the strings on a lap top?

Your photo looks like a Melbert 8 with a George L's pickup? If so, I have one that Bob set up with a .093" gap between the pickup and the strings (2.3 mm, or about the thickness of a nickel). Works well for me, and I believe that's his usual setting for this pickup unless someone requests otherwise.

Thanks for the info. I have some extra time on my hands and decided to put in new pots and caps. Forgot to measure height before removing the strings.
