I bought this guitar from Damir Besic back in 2017. He claimed it was made by a guitar luthier named Dowd. I paid $2650 for it (including shipping). When I got it the guitar was unplayable. It was not set up at all and some of the pedals were sitting on the floor with no pedal adjustment left on the rods. I had my friend Ross Shafer of Sierra Steel Guitars get it to where it plays well.

I also have a GFI U12 E9/B6 that I have played for about 8 years. I really cannot get into the keyless thing so I would like to sell this guitar.

It is a standard U12 E9/B6, 7+5, RKR lowers E's/B6, LKL raises E's. Plays well now and is in very good condition with a few bar dings.

Asking $2,150 including shipping lower 48. Not really into trades as I am guitar rich and need the space.

Dan Down was from Paducah, KY and a gentleman in all respects. He built a very nice guitar and had a good friend in Jerry Fessenden hence the Fessy bellcranks. His guitars were quality- just like the man.

That knee lever configuration as described is a good one, the most playable IMO

Can you tell us what you thought was the problem/difference with the keyless tuning and why you couldn't get used to it or didn't like it. Thanks!

Darrell: I guess I'm just old fashioned and prefer not to have to grab a wrench to tune. I also have a hard time figuring out which allen screw to turn without putting on reading glasses.

Steve: I believe it is a Bill Lawrence pickup. Others on the Forum would know better than me. I had a Truetone that I was going to put in the guitar but liked the Lawrence so kept it.

Thanks

Did some research. It appears that Dan Dowd built this guitar and probably played it since he switched from a D-10 to a U-12.

Here is the original post from Demir Besic when I obtained it from him: https://bb.steelguitarforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=315064&highlight=dowd

Damir did a bunch of photos that are better than mine. He said that he should have held on to it. Damir, here is your chance!

Thanks

Guitar looks to have a maple body and lacquer finish, not mica.
