Just stumbled across this amazing album on Youtube. Anyone know anything about this guy?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U-UQR0m7lu8

To me it sounds like all Lapsteel (no pedal).

I love puzzles! I found a photo of the album cover and liner notes at https://www.hhv.de/shop/en/item/magic-sounds-of-frank-sorrell-the-the-magic-sounds-of-frank-sorrell-and-his-4-guitars-497457 . Apparently released on Coral Records as CRL 57324 (mono) and CRL 757324 (stereo) in 1960, plus a couple of 45's on Brunswick around the same time. Both labels were distributed by Decca.

Sessions were recorded in NY in 1959 and 1960, info at https://adp.library.ucsb.edu/index.php/mastertalent/detail/344648/Sorrell_Frank but unfortunately no list of musicians.

The album and 45's are available on eBay or Amazon.

Now that was fun! Sounds like he used some of the Les Paul tape speed trickery on some cuts of the album, particularly on some of the (non-steel) guitar parts.

Sounds very much like Santo Farina, particularly on Blue Moon. And like Speedy on "On The Beach".

There's too many "Frank Sorrell" names to drill into on Google, but several appear to have been born 1910 to 1935, where this guy would likely fit--considering he recorded 1955-1960.
