I don't think I've ever seen an attempt at this and I wanted to post it before the Major League Baseball season started, but life got into the way.

So with the capable assistance of Ernie Renn & Russ Wever, here's our take for the melodic solos from Buddy Emmons version of "Take Me Out To The Ballgame"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RJzBtIsxaoA

< By melodic solos, I mean we did not attempt to tab out BE's 'free form solos' >

First page is part of the first verse - played on E9th neck

Page 2 is BE's First C6th solo to complete the 1st verse of song

Then Buddy takes off on a Free Form solo from 45 seconds to Handing Off to Phil Baugh

Page 3 is BE's 1st melodic solo in Eb (after Phil Baugh's hand-off back to Buddy)

Page 4 is BE's 2nd melodic solo in Eb

[/url]

And then Buddy "takes off" again - only as Buddy could!

Hope you get some use out of these - it was a great exercise trying to obtain the sounds of the 'C6th melodic solos' that Buddy played.

Start out slow with the Tab and see what you think. You already know the melody by heart.

Thanks again to friends Ernie Renn and Russ Wever.

MAN - Only Buddy could play those 'free form' solos that Buddy played!!

Comments and / or corrections welcome!

Great stuff, Ron. Thanks to all involvled. Since you asked for corrections, I'll offer this- during the slow waltz part in the intro, on the word "I", as in " if I ever get back" I belive he's slanting the bar, the tip being on string 5, fret 13, no pedal, and the butt (?) on string 8 fret 14 (no pedal). He sustains them, sliding the butt back to fret 13 while engaging the A pedal to get the first syllabil in Ever, as in "ever get back".
You can see him do it on the video.
The same notes can be achieved by staying at the 13th fret and using the F lever, but it doesn't sound the same and it's not nearly as cool.

Thanks a bunch Jack!

I replayed the Video and really slowed it down (via the 'gear icon' at the bottom right hand corner of the screen), and you are totally "correct-uh-mundo."

Such little nuances can really bring a different timbre!!

PS - still looking for correct notes for BE's ending!

Kind regards
Ron
