Hello to all on the forum, from the not-very-frozen northeast.I play 6 string lap steel and Dobro. I compose in an ambient-experimental style, but my roots are in western swing and bluegrass.
I was just thinking what a great, soulful instrument we play, one that allows so many individual musical personalities to express themselves.
In the past few days I've listened to-and learned from-Noel Boggs, Joaquin Murphey,Susan Alcorn,Bud Charlton. Each of those players defines their own form of musical perfection and makes it happen.
So thanks to them and other great players, and to all who share information, stories, and inspiration here in the forum!

Welcome aboard Kevin. Since you're in Fessenden country, if you don't already know Jerry, you should look him up. He has a great collection of steel recordings and a wealth of knowledge of steel guitar history and manufacture.
