Hi all. I posted this in the “Pedel Steel†section and b0b also recommended the “Steel on the Web†section as well, so here it is. In this video, I tried embedding a “tablature like†graphic in lieu of actual tab. I hope this works OK. I’m open to comments or suggestions regarding this method.

Beautiful playing! I do that little contrary motion thing on the first ascending melodic passage too, albeit on electric guitar... Really enjoyed your rendition. Subscribed! |

Thanks all.
Andy, the little counterpoint phrase you’re talking about I think I first heard from a recording of Hank Garland on guitar. Many people do this, but If you have never heard his version of this, do yourself a favor and check this out. Here’s a link
https://youtu.be/4pTqUQAk3os
I also stole that lick he does passing through the A7 chord (after a fashion)
Anyway, it is a great piece of music. Jimmy Van Heusen was a great composer (Did you know he also wrote the theme to the 60’s TV show “Hazel) |

Lovely arrangement and great playing.
Thanks for posting.
Also enjoyed the Hank Garland link..
Haven't fully explored his playing. His approach sounds similar to Johnny Smith's.
Great stuff. |

Wow, wow, WOW! Gorgeous arrangement and beautifully played. Anyone who still thinks that the E9 tuning only excels at three-chord country tunes needs to hear this.
I wrote an SSATB vocal arrangement of this tune when I was in college and it gave me a lifelong appreciation for this wonderful composition and for Jimmy Van Heusen as a composer.
Well done! |

Nice! Thanks for putting this up.
Wes Montgomery's recording of this was the first piece I ever transcribed for guitar, and I've wanted to hear someone do it on steel for a while. |
