I have a Dobro Hula Blues resophonic guitar, from the middle 90's. I would like to find a replacement cone, as the original cone has some dents and damage. This is round-neck guitar with a biscuit bridge.

I have tried to fit several standard 9.5" replacement cones, but they are all too tall for the sound well and can't be used. From the top of the guitar to the ledge the supports the cone, the depth is only 1.125". Any suggestions for such a shallow cone?

I had assumed that ALL Dobro biscuit cones were 10 1/2 inches dia?

If so, Paul Beard used to spin such a cone although I don't see it currently listed on his website.

Might be worth a call to 301-733-8271. They have knowledge in all things "Dobro"/resonator.

If Howard's assumption is indeed correct, there is help on the way. Link below to a 10 1/2" biscuit cone from Replogle at StewMac. Might be a few bucks cheaper on Amazon. High quality like the other American-made cones we are familiar with.

Some of our fellow members are familiar with Mike Replogle. He lives a couple hours south of me in the Bay Area and is currently in a management position at Santa Cruz Guitars.

He also has a side business of producing reso guitar parts.

Mike was appointed General Manager at OMI Dobro in Southern California after Gibson bought the company, and he ran the operation from 1993-1997. At that point Gibson shut down the California facility and moved everything to Nashville. Mike didn't make the move and remained in California.

I definitely need a 9.5" cone, but the Replogle cone comes in 9.5 and 10.5" diameters. I'll definitely look into it. Thanks!

I'd have low expectations. If 9.5 inches I'm sure it's spun for a National. You've tried National sizes and the don't work?

Dobro did not use National compatible biscuit cones, as far as I can recall.

Good luck.

I'm checking into this made by Replogle. From the description it's the OEM replacement and it will fit inside the guitar.

For National and National compatible guitars.

You tried and they don't fit?
