My friend, Bill Exley, ( J.W. Exleys's son) from Cl
yo, Ga. bought this old Shobud and asked me to get it playable (which it wasn't). I didn't take but one pic of "before" and you can get and idea of how dirty it was. I had never worked on a "rack and barrel" before. the barrels and pull rods were so black and corroded they were locked up! Here are a couple pics and we were able to get it playing and behold, it sounds unbelievable!!! John Lemaster says its the best He's ever heard, especially thru my single channel Shobud amp. Another glorious survivor. It really is rewarding to bring one like this back to life! Lonnie

As all can see, Lonnie did a superb job on this great old Bud. The tone of this guitar is just amazing. It has what I would call that "Sho Bud Bite", that is, a kind of bright but still thick tone, and not at all shrill. String separation to the max.
Lonnie's magic has it playing smoothly, too. It only has the 2 original knee levers, which raise and lower the E's on strings 4 and 8. But, there is a ton of music in this classic, just as it is.
