Hopefully, this may save someone some grief when working on these old guitars. I recently had a problem with a mid 50s T-8 Custom. Couldn't get the volume and tone to work right. After spending hours and replacing pots and capacitor, I discovered that the old hot wire coming from the switch was so cankered that it wouldn't make a good connection even when stripped and soldered in. I had to get inside the twisted wire to get a solid connection, then everything fell in place.
