Received mine a few days ago. Simply attaches to the front legs. What a nice product.
It allowed me to get rid of some of the clutter in my music room, trash the old bulky music stand and is perfect for writing charts with plenty of room to hold a lot of written music or tab.
Just a great accessory for steel players. |

| I got me one. I use it all the time at home. It's big enough to keep everything on there: Tuner, charts, computer keyboard, picks bar etc. I also take it to gigs when the band is playing too many toons to remember. I went to my first rehearsal for a band that I am going to do some playing with and read it all down from the charts I had made from the bands CDs. Whoa, I just saw something else interesting on that website link. Is that a ZB that has been converted to use nylon tuners etc? Thats the reason I got rid of my ZB, it was a pain to change anything on the setup.
Didn't mean to hijack this post, I just got excited.

i believe that the 'bradsrack' (not sure of spelling) was a z-shaped stand designed by bradshaw... you would see a 'z' shape if you looked at the side of the guitar, with the body of the guitar resting on the top of the 'z'.
bradshaw's new TAB RACK, however, is a thing of beauty... the old one was riveted together. this one is stamped out of solid aluminum, and is more solid.
lastly, that zb you're talking about is mine... eat your hearts out! 8-)

I have personally seen that ZB in Tom's Garage. If I'm not mistaken, Tom cut every one of those bell cranks by hand. Polished them by hand too. When he showed me, and opened up the case, I was damn near blinded.
Tom's mechanical ability has reached the lever of Master Wizard. Hellova nice guy to boot.

Check out the rack on this thread...: http://steelguitarforum.com/Forum5/HTML/012482.html. In the first pic, there seems to be a rack attached to the new "Williams" steel guitar discussed in that thread. In fact, it looks as though part of it is made of plexiglass.

I own one of Tom's original music racks that Mac Martine linked to. Bought it back in the late 70s and used it daily for many years during rehearsals...a really great device. It held LOTS of paper and never fell or slipped. I loved it. Still have it somewhere in storage.
If you need a music stand for your studies, you won't find a better one than Tom's. |

I'm like Mike,,,bought one of the originals
back in the 70's. Still use it this day.
Only modification I made was to put a solid back on it and to expand the width of the
shelf on which the tab stands.

Roy,
I'm sure the music stand you bought from Tom in the 70's was designed and built by my friend Clifford Kirk in Kalamazoo, MI. Was it anodized aluminum? He made some colored, some not, some not anodized, but they are very similar to the design in Tom's Catalog. I'm sure Tom would be the first to credit Cliff for his contribution.
Cliff was one of my best friends and was taken from us prematurely by a heart attack in the 80's. RIP, my old buddy. Your rack lives on.

tom bought all of cliff's stuff from cliff's wife, when he passed away... tom's dad (outside of skiatook, ok) built them for tom for about five years, and that was the end of version I.
so.. cliff was the original manufacturer, and tom was the sole dealer and subsequent manufacturer.
tom has brought the rack back by popular demand (and need!)... the old ones were labor-intensive to produce, the new ones, as mentioned previously, have been re-designed... and rock!

I bought one in the 80's.Don't know who I bought it from.Still have ,still use sometimes,But I paid a lot more than what is asked for today.So what is for sale today , looks like a real good deal!
