What Brand are the hardest to find when looking for a PSG ?
It does not need to be High price vintage collector pieces.
I have not seen many Emmons LG SD 10's for sale or perhaps a nice JCH.
Lockdown boredom is probably the reason for this post |

Billy the one guitar I would like to find would be a Schild SD10. I have checked them out on his website, but I have never seen one, or know anyone who owns one. One guy from Germany who comes to our steel guitar show in Dublin every year, told me he has played one and was totally blown away with the playabillity of the instrument and the engineering.
They are a pretty expensive guitar. I guess if you want world class engineering you gotta pay the extra bucks. |

There are only a few MOYO keyless steels out there. Less than 20 I believe. _________________ KEVIN MAUL: Airline, Beard, Clinesmith, Donner, Evans, Excel, Fender, Fluger, GFI, Gibson, Hilton, Ibanez, Justice, K+K, Live Strings, MOYO, National, Oahu, Peterson, Quilter, Rickenbacher, Sho~Bud, Supro, TC, Ultimate, VHT, Williams, X-otic, Yamaha, ZKing. |

I saw one in a guitar store once. It was in bad condition, was missing a pedal, and generally needed a lot of work. I tried to tell the store's owner about Jim Palenscar, but he had his own repairman, and insisted that his guy (who was undoubtedly a fine guitar repairman, but probably had never saw a steel before) could fix it.
BTW, it weighed 2 tons. _________________ Please visit my web site and Soundcloud page and listen to the music posted there.

I forget the name if the store, but it probably was. It was on Ventura Blvd in Studio City or North Hollywood.
They had lot of delicious looking guitars. _________________ Please visit my web site and Soundcloud page and listen to the music posted there.

There can't be many genuine Erickson pedal steels out there. They came out of northwestern Minnesota in the '70s. Some later model Ericksons were reportedly BMIs with Erickson branding.

Mike, that was probably Valley Arts.
As far as rare steels, what about an Endicott? Leo LeBlanc used to play one. |

I knew Rex Endicott. He used to play at a little dive in Culver City. Then I moved to TX and he moved back to OK and we lost touch. _________________ My rig: Infinity and Telonics.

Yes, it is. I bought it from Josh right before he moved to Austin. I also bought his Zum from him a few years later; it had been stolen, I found it in a music store, called him & he met me at the store. He had the original BOS & the police report; they turned it over to him & I bought it from him outside the store in the street. _________________ A couple D-10s,some vintage guitars & amps, & lotsa junk in the gig bag. |

Rich,Here's some trivia about your GES guitar, one of the knee levers on the left side had loosened up so at Dale Fortune's recommendation he sent Josh, and me over to "Doc Kaufmans"house Doc,retapped it and all was good,Doc took us into his shed that was filled with lap steels from his K&F days,a motorized vibrato etc. _________________ Steeltronics Z-pickup,Desert Rose S-10 4+5,Desert Rose Keyless S-10 3+5... Off topic, but I had to jump in. I bought a Paisley Tele in 1969-70 ish for $90. I immediately took it apart and stripped it 'cuz I just had to have a natural wood tele...yup I know what a dipshit! In doing so, I somehow broke a wire on the bridge pickup. Hey, I just admitted to being a dipshit!
Doc Kauffman lived about a block away from my high school girlfriend. I knocked on his door and asked if he could help me fix it, or rewind it if nec. Super sweet guy, with a big smile he said "sure". Took me into his garage, where there was lot's of K&F stuff....he fixed my pickup, refused to take any money, and talked with me for as long as I wanted. I just wish I'd known enough to ask him good questions. A highlight in my music life for sure! |
