I thought some people might find this video interview interesting. Jazz guitarist Al DiMeola is best known for playing guitar with Chic Corea. But his secret love is pedal steel guitar.

this crazy machine will get a hold on you. I'll bet he is just one of many who had to make a choice.

The first and only time I saw Al Di Meola was back in 1973-74 when he first joined Chick Corea. We were both 19 at the time. Still remember the concert vividly. I remember thinking that his playing left me a bit cold at the time (as did Corea's synth playing), John Mclaughlin was more my guy, as was Herbie Hancock. But I loved Stanley Clark who was the standout for me.

I changed my mind in 81 when the Frida Night in san Francisco record came out with McLauglin and Paco de Lucia all playing acoustic. That record was mind blowing.

The video is 11 minutes long.

Where in the interview does he talk about the PSG?

I didn't listen to the whole thing, but he mentions it in the first few minutes talking about his earliest influences.

I believe he got a Sho Bud and claims he got pretty good on it. I'm stunned by that. His guitar playing is overwhelming but darn, I wish he would have stayed on steel. Now we will never know.

Well, well, well. Who would have thought DiMeola was once an addict like us .
Still, it seems he managed to get clean. Smile
