I remember back about 40 years ago when I started learning Pedal steel (Switching from lap steel), Jeff Newman came out with a 12 intros lesson. It was very handy for a beginner like me to have those ideas to pull from.

Just sitting around I thought I'd come up with about 4 similar intros in 15 minutes that would help inspire new players to pull ideas from. I'm a big Hal Rugg fan, especially his early Wilburn Brothers cuts. So this is in that vain.

I'll tab them if enough players are interested.

Nice intros Ron!!!! I like Hal Rugg also. If I am thinking right, did Hal Rugg work on Lorette Lyn material? The group I work with has a young lady who does Loretta Lyn material and does a very good job of it. I do numerous intros and turn arounds and solos on those song and I try to do them like the original cut. I enjoy it when we do the L. L. songs. I know when I play those songs it really makes her shine with those signature licks behind her.

Clem Schmitz sells an authorized CD & 18-page tab booklet for Hal's famous seven-plus minute Loretta Lynn medley. Good stuff.

I know Bob Hempker played for Loretta at one time on the
road, don't know if he recorded with her. He had a beautiful green Emmons D10, Billy Knowles restored it, it was a gem it is still on his web site at steel guitars east.

Here's a Hal intro from 1955. His first recorded, as far as I know.

I’d love to get the tabs for these. Even with the tabs I’d be hard pressed to get them right. Thanks.
