That is one good looking lap steel. I love the use of the three different woods and the perpendicular use of the grain. PERFECT! If the guy posts what kind of Pup that is, please let us know or if anyone on the forum has info please post. _________________ Currently own, 6 Groner-tone lap steels, one 1953 Alamo Lap steel, Roland Cube, Fender Champion 40 |

Bill.......actually the pickup is a P90 sized Gold Foil Soapbar......that I guess can be special ordered in Silver?
Anyway, if you want one to put in one of your fine-looking steels....here you go:

Is that bridge flat, or is it radiused? What is its string spacing? Can't find anything like it on the Kluson website. If it's like the ones Gibson installed on their pink Century and Century Deluxe, I'm interested. Bigly. |

if it is flat, he might have purchased the aluminum kluson and then flattened it and repolished. but it looks like a radiused one to me. i might make one of those steels
and see how it plays. |

Using a radiused bridge is a trap for Guitar builders moving into Lap steel.
Its certainly going to increase the pressure needed to hold the bar across all strings and cause intonation problems across the strings _________________ Duesenberg Fairytale

Asher used to sell a flat wraparound bridge that they use on their Junior, but seem to have discontinued. _________________ Duesenberg Fairytale

If the bridge is radiused it's hard to imagine anyone making such a naive mistake. It's a beautiful guitar otherwise. |

It's sadly pretty common. I've seen a lot of skilled builders who decide to make a lap steel but don't totally understand the instrument. This one is at least a fixable issue. _________________ Steel Guitar Books! Website: www.volkmediabooks.com |

It is sad, and unfortunately this one is not a ready fix, with the wraparound bridge post holes likely to show if you use an alternative. _________________ Duesenberg Fairytale

I would think it would be easy to knock that radius off that stop bridge even with a file. |

Trouble is if you start modifying that bridge you lose the plating and it may just be zinc based metal under there, Plus you would need to re crown it not just leave it flat from front to back.
It's just a lot easier if the builder gets it right to start with _________________ Duesenberg Fairytale
