Hey Mike, I just got Steelonious in the mail. It's awesome. I was wandering if you could add 5 years to my life span by doing a lap steel version of the solo in "Stairway to Heaven"? By the way, I saw Jaco & Mike Stern live at the Beverly Wiltern in 1983ish

Shocked Shocked Shocked I'm going to be stupid and vote for the Kid Charlemagne solo next because I don't doubt you could pull off an awesome version of it!

Haha. i was 14 when I heardthat on the boardwalk at Seaside Heights and it damaged me for life (in a good way), but I’d be happy to not ever hear it again. Same with Stairway and DEFINITELY Freebird! 😂

No, really!

It's a whole nother album, famous guitar solos.
Did we already do Neer Hits? I can't believe you opened yourself up to requests. Anything, in life during coronovirus. Hey, album name!

It would be very hard to duplicate "Philosophy of the World". It's so out of tune, and so out of time, and horrific in every way... it's a one-of-a-kind cult classic!

Agreed. But if anyone could possibly play it, my money would be on Mike.

Mike -- WOW Shocked Shocked

Re Shags: back in the early days me and my friend would purposely hit "wrong" notes for a whole solo, and try to make the other laugh by playing the worst solo. If you do that long enough, you find out which wrong notes work in certain situations.

Hi Mike, Just wanted to get back to you and say thank you so much for granting my crazy request to do the Stairway solo. It is so Awesome the way you did it. I did not know at the time I would unleash a flood of crazy song requests at you. The night before I had just received a 10 String Eddie Alkire E-Harp and was thinking of cool covers I could do. I knew it would take me 2 weeks to learn it so after a cup of coffee and checking out a bunch of your posts and listening to Steelonious I just figured Mike could do this and do it quickly and great. Thanks again Man! I have watched the clip many times and it is totally inspiring! Back to Round Midnight though. All the best and thank you for the inspiration.

Cheers,
Shaun
