As I sat in the audience at last year's HSGA festival I was awed and inspired by the talent and passion that the folks there had for the steel guitar. On the long drive home back to Canada it occurred to me to put together a talk-story on the history of the instrument to help spread the word, so to speak. My live performance has the first three instruments and songs (the pedal steel is a brute to lug around now Winking ). I've shared this story and my love of the instrument at open-mics, jams and a seniors facility. The feed-back has been positive with comments ranging from "I didn't know it came from Hawaii" to "This took be back to the days when my grandmother played her Hawaiian guitar". There is more "talk" in the live talk story than in the video but I hope the point gets across okay. I had a lot of fun doing the research and listened to hours of playing all the way back to the early days of the steel guitar.

That was great Dean. Keep the steel guitar message out there. Whether it's pedal, Hawaiian lap steel or acoustic. its all great.
