| New player here, have a Shobud S10 with 3+3, can anyone recommend a stringset for me? So many choices. Thanks! |

The best thing is to buy a set of strings (and some extra .011's as they do break) from the Forum. It helps to support the forum.
As far as which ones, start with the "standad" Nashville gauges or try the Ricky Davis custom gauge sets. |

Chris,,
If ya go up to the top of the page on left side and click on "strings" it will show ya the entire catalogue, and ya can choose.
But wich ever set ya get, get some extra 3rd strings [G#] cause it's not a matter of if they'll break, but when!! lol..
Mine allways seem to break in the middle of a gig,, guess that's SOP!! lol...
edited to add, you may want to try a set of nickel, and a set of stainless steel to see which you prefer!

The E9th "Nashville" Gauges are:
1. F# - .013
2. D# - .015
3. G# - .011
4. E - .014
5. B - .017
6. G# - .020P
7. F# - .026W
8. E - .030W
9. D - .034W
10. B - .036W
There are "tension" gauges, custom gagues, etc but the Nashville is the most common. The standard sets from most string vendors are the Nashville gauges, e.g. George L's, GHS, Cobra Coils, etc. I haven't looked at the stock Jagwire set, it may be the Nashville gauges too. |

| Paul Franklin, Sr told me the "Nashville" gauges are what they settled on at the Sho-Bud factory after a lot of scientific testing based on the tension of the strings. |

Chris,
I use the Ricky Davis set on all 3 of my Sho~Buds... I do lower the 6th on one of them so I substitute a 022 plain for the wound that comes standard in his set. If your guitar has been set up for a particular set of gauges, then you may have to do some adjustment if you change to different guages. Email me if you need some help |

Since your are a new PSG player, let me add this bit of advice. When your pedal pulls start to come up flat of the adjustments, rather than adjusting the rods to have more pull, change your strings... it's time.
If you follow this rule, you will need very few changes of the hex nut adjustments. Howerver, if you adjust the pulls as the strings get older, when you do change strings you will have big time changes required, as all the adjustment you made to compensate for the aging strings, will now cause them all to be sharp with new strings.
Best of luck, and I wouldn't worry too much about brands of strings while you're begining.

I am not trying to start anything just stating my results. Jagwires stayed on my Pro 1 for 5 months and did not break a string in all that time, i had to change them becouse they wore out. Herby Wallace Stainless. Jagwires have been on my D 10 ever since I recieved it back from Leon, no string breakage as of yet, about 2 months still sound like new.
It is hard to argue with facts.
Also guitars played every day.
