Hi,

I’m still relatively new to the PSG and noticed a strange thing while tuning yesterday. I have Sh oBud 6140 (rebuilt to E9) with a LKR (e->f) and C-pedal (4+5. string goes one note up). It seems that the same tuning rod/nut (is that what’s it’s called) is affecting the 4. string with both LKR and C. Is this normal? Seems rather unpractical, as they don't tune to the same note/freq but still affect each other like this. Anyone have similar experiences or good advices?

Should be fine as long as you can tune each raise independently. That would probably mean that you reach under the guitar to tune the half step raise without affecting the whole step raise. You would twist something that looks like this:

Thanks, Earnest. So what you mean is that I first tune the whole step raise by the rod/nut and afterwards tune the half step from under the pedal steel? I'm assuming it's the thingy in the middle of your photo that I should be able to adjust that on.

On a Bud of that type you do use the same end plate tuner to tune both raises

Alex, Looks like standard bud type tuning with 2 hole pullers and barrels. Basically, just apply a little pressure on pedal or leaver to be tuned and turn the tuning nut on end plate then do the same with the second pedal or leaver. When pedal is engaged the brass barrel will adjust when tuning nut is turned Other barrels on same rod don't . Look under guitar and you will see how the brass barrels lock and unlock to be tuned when pedal is engaged. You can do this.

Thanks to all of you - seems everything is fine then. I'll experiment a bit with the tuning when I get to my rehearsal space again tomorrow.
