I recently added a GFI Ultra to the herd and love the guitar, but am not in love with the fretboard. I prefer the Mullen fretboard, but it is made to 24 and a quarter inch scale whereas the GFI is 24 inch. Does anyone know if it is possible to get a Mullen fretboard at the smaller scale? and where I might get one if such a thing exists?

Brian, a Carter fretboard would do the job. Contact Al Brisco, Steel Guitars of Canada.

Should've went to you first Ted, only 10 miles up the road lol. Should've known you'd have solution. There's a few alternatives Ted but I'm hoping upon hope someone out there might just have the Holy Grail.

Show Pro has 24" scale fret boards available as they offer the buyer a choice of scale length when ordering a guitar. The design on the factory boards (Sho-Bud style was an option if preferred)may be worth a look. Billy Cooper Music stocked Show Pro units at one time also and may still have them in stock.

Thanks David, I'll look into that.

Brian, I like the MCI or EMCI fretboard really well and it is 24" scale. Some were made with colored markers and some black and white. I think Jim Flynn at Lone Star Steels has them at very reasonable price.

Thanks Jerry, another viable option. The coloured fret markers are much better I think, that's why I like the Mullen, you always know exactly where you are.

Some of us are quite particular when it comes to fretboards. I bought an Emmons and it didn't feel quite right. I determined that the frets line were fatter than what I was used to.
I contacted Emmons and they sent me some fretboards with thinner lines and I was back in my comfort zone. Very Happy

I have always really liked the Mullen fretboard but it would be extremely costly to set up to make one 24" scale. It costs $100's to set up production of the fretboard. Erv, I didn't like the wide lines either. My very favorite fretboard is the Emmons black, chrome lines, colored atoms markers. Very classy! However, this is off topic because Emmons is
24 1/4" scale. The MCI with colored markers are very nice. Pedalmaster is a nice somewhat generic board featuring Pittsburg Steeler logo diamonds. LeRoy lived a block from me when he was building Pedalmaster and he liked the Steelers and chose that design. I don't recall the scale long th though. (He drove a Buick Roadmaster, which influenced the Pedalmaster brand).
