Hi steelers,
Would anyone be interested in a DIY thread? This would be for things we built ourselves- stands, electronics, cases, etc.
I am ok with a tablesaw (still 10 fingers) and a menace with a soldering iron, but getting hetter.
I would love to see what you all have come up with to solve problems and make PSG life better.
Best,
Al |

not by me, but, i have a friend who has built me a baffle for my sears amp that originally had two pieces of rattly masonite in it. amp sounds much better now.
then, i had him build me a cab for a 10" weber silver bell speaker. great job and decent price.
i'm posting pictures of the cab. sorry, loading process turned the pics around.

Allan, as long as it's steel guitar related and in the right columns it should be fine. Make sure you follow forum rules and regulations. |

I turned an old briefcase my wife got at a thrift store into a convenient pedal board for my PS. Has a send/return for the volume pedal between the B9 and Rat. Maybe not the most impressive thing ever but I made all the cables myself with Mogami Neglex wire and flat Neutrik plugs. The jacks are all Switchcraft. _________________ GFI S-10 P U, Moyo Volume, Fender Steel King, Fender 5F4 Super-Amp |

I've built a lot, steel cases, speaker cabinets, folding steel seats, amp cabinets, Rack cases.
Here is one picture I found of a custom Nashville 112 cabinet I built. It was sold a couple of years ago and last I knew someone in Texas has it.

Built this for a friend of mine who has gotten to the point he can't carry his cased up guitar any more too heavy.
Sit the guitar on two quick bungee cords and your off. The guitar is covered by a thick vinyl cover much like a gig bag to protect it. The cart holds s-10 sd-10 D-10 and s-12 and the wheels will go through any standard 3.0 doorway. pneumatic tires will roll over curbs and most stairs with ease.

I certainly wouldn't call this little amp pedal steel rated, but a friend sent me the amp and a Mercury Magnetics "upgrade" kit. It now has an extra power tube, upgraded transformers, (of course), and overdrives with the guitar volume knob!
I tried to build a 112 cab to match, and got pretty close.
I think I've already posted most of the other amps, and cabs I've built. |

I actually use this for listening rather than playing, but here's a stereo single ended direct heated triode power amp I built a couple of years back. It packs a whopping 3 watts or so per channel, but through efficient speakers, it's louder than I can stand in my living room.
I've built similar amps for steel use, but they're not as pretty
It's a modified Loftin/White design, with interstage chokes and 2A3 output tubes.

@David Ball. My stereo amp is a single-rnded three watt amp. Love it. Plenty loud and sounds sweet. |

I love mine too--my "main" system is driven by a pair of 1 watt 45 triode monoblocks. Since I've moved to smaller quarters, my multicell horns had to go. Sure miss them, but I built some efficient smaller speakers that sound good too.
