I have a friend that inherited a sizeable quantity of amps and guitars. Most are vintage and collectible. I helped date and value them at no charge. She did sell me the little bit of steel stuff left at a very fair price. She’s not had good luck finding a decent place to consign the equipment and has asked me if I would be interested. I’m sure I can do it as long as my local UPS store is open. What are your thoughts on what I should charge or even go about it? I’m thinking list it on reverb and what not.....

I have helped liquidate several musical estates. The largest was a collection of 18 Martin instruments including a D28H that brought $16,000.

I took hundreds of well lit, staged photos of each instrument - including any faults.

The entire collection was listed on REVERB.com. I had the authority to allow 'offers' or deny them.

I charged 15% of the sale price of each item and provided a spreadsheet of every financial detail - Reverb fees, Paypal fees, shipping, insurance, commissions and in one case travel to hand deliver a very rare Martin guitar.

Every item eventually sold.

The Estate Executor was very pleased with the results. He had no idea where to start...

Thanks Michael. I’ll consider it a bit before giving her an answer. I think the biggest thing is I would want to move it all to my house so I could take more pics and be able to pack them properly for shipping.
