In my five years of ownership this Sierra "Session Series" Fourteen String Keyless has only twice left my smoke-less, pet-less temperature and humidity controlled studio. But if YOU have to move it around, included is a wheeled flight case. Danny Shields switchable slide-in pickup, with three position selector switch. Cleaned, set-up and re-strung eight-playing-hours ago. Holds tune for weeks. Dual outputs, too, so send one signal to your board/amp, one to the tuner.
New custom Studio cover, fits like a glove. I replaced the broken "wing" handles on the adjustable front legs; the legs are the "twist-in" type rather than the folding ones Sierra also had on some steels.
I will deliver for free in the US within 120 miles of zip code 44286 or meet halfway same distance, or split actual shipping costs via carrier of your choice, insured. SOLD SOLD SOLD
Ed Packard had these built with his PST "13 Series" Copedent, which he described:
"14 strings gives E69,A6,B6 AND EM13 with 4P and 5L.
The range is bass, baritone, tenor, and soprano on one instrument.
4 tone chords use adjacent strings, low string is the chord root...we talkin' Jazz chords here like M7, m7, 7, 9 and add you bs and #s to these."
(He calls the pedals "P1, P2, PX and PY.") Very versatile, but easily played as an E9th steel, too. With four octaves to play with, the lower strings I've used as bass substitutes, and also for Hammond B3 emulation with an "organizer" pedal:
str# L<L> P1 P2 R<R> PX PY
1 2,9 ---------4-------------------------------9-------
2 6,13 -----------------------------------b7----6-------
3 3 -----------------------4,11--------------3---b3--
4 1 ----b9--------7--------------------------1-------
5 5 ------------------6,13--------b5---------13------
6 3 -----------------------4,11--------------11------
7 2,9 ---------4-------------------------------9-------
8 1 ----b9--------7--------------------b7----7-------
9 5 ------------------6,13--------b5---------5-------
10 3 -----------------------4,11--------------3---b3--
11 1 ----b9--------7--------------------------1-------
12 6,13 ----------------------------------------13------
13 5 -----------------------4,11--------------11------
14 1 -----------------------------------------1-------

Thanks so much to John, Tommy, Johnie and Ross for the kind words. I am the second owner and was blessed to have received this from the original player in great condition and tried to keep it that way. I've always loved the black and silver look, with (almost) no lettering, except the small "Sierra" on the pedal cross-bar.
I've been reading on this forum for many, many years and have learned from all you wise, talented and generous folks about all aspects of the steel world and can't imagine living without the Steel Guitar Forum. Just bought another one from a forum member and am looking forward to my next challenge! _________________ "Just because you're not a drummer doesn't mean you don't have to keep time." Man, that is an amazing looking guitar Kevin!
You wrote that you’re looking forward to your next challenge - are you saying that you “conquered†this one? _________________ Mark |

Mark Eaton?
It’s a fine line between “conquer†and “surrender!†I’m still after all these years just a “rhythm†steel player and mainly keep going to stave off the inevitable brain turning to mush phase of old age. Can’t imagine there are many things that require you to use both hands, both feet, both knees AND your brain all at the same time... aside from some circus acts!
I’m picking up a Williams D-12 to get some grad school level work in on that magic C6th neck. Should challenge my noggin AND my lower back. I figure another one, two decades? I might be able to play. Best steel pix I've seen in a long time... great price, just i think 14 strings would make my head hurt but aside from that
Everybody should buy this! _________________ - keyless Sonny Jenkins laps stay in tune forever!; Carter PSG

I wish I was still in the steel business, I'ed grab this one. It would be so easy to turn it into a S10 or S12. But I'm old and have two Sierra's already.
Someone grab this. |
