Yes, I know there are a zillion little digital recorders with lots of bells and whistles (but do you ever see yourself needing a flanger or phaser effect for PSG?) available today that'll fit in your pocket and let you record yourself playing. You could spend lots of hours learning ProTools too but I'm too old for that now.
Or, you can work with an early model digital recorder that is a fancy sophisticated boombox-the Tascam BB-1000CD. It has the advantage of being very simple to use for us older guys that remember play and record buttons on an old cassette recorder. But this one is digital. Plays from and records to CD or SD card (true I have a 1 gig SD card in there now-they date back to the 2012 era), has a built in tuner and metronome, can change speed or pitch of the playback, can loop specified sections, has front and rear microphones and built in speakers, has RCA and Mic input/output, AND it can overdub (play and record your instrument along with the playback track). It all works with simple buttons and is in as new condition as I used it once or twice then gave it to my daughter to record her flute lessons (yes she gave that up real quick too). What doesn't it have? Well no effects and no 1/4 inch jack for your guitar. Can't solve the first issue but I can help on the second. I'll throw in a Beringer mixer. I ran the line out of my Nashville 112 to the mixer then the mixer to the RCA input of the tape recorder. Worked fine for me the few times I tried it. You could also plug the guitar directly into the mixer if you wanted to I suppose.
So, Pros and Cons:
Pro-Very easy to operate-just push the right button once you've got your source and destinations set up with the built in LCD menu screen. Has good sound reproduction as well. Versatile ways to record and play back. Runs off AC or battery so it's portable. Overdubbing works fine and is easy to do. Yes you'll get the manual with it.
Con: It's pretty big-about the size of a size 12 shoebox-maybe a little wider. It won't fit in your shirt pocket without ripping your entire shirt to shreds (but it has a built in handle!). Don't know the limit of SD card capacity that will work. Your on your own with that. Finally using the mixer might seem a bit much (I never tried going into a mic input from my amp-don't know if that'll work). You could forget the whole mixer and just use the built in mics for that matter but I have no idea of the sound quality if you do that. Never tried.
So if you're into old school easy to operate stuff, consider this unique piece of equipment. I'll take $75 bucks plus whatever it costs to ship (maybe 20 bucks? I'm not sure).

I don't remember it having a remote to be honest. I'll go out on a limb and say I don't have it.
I just looked in the manual and there's a spec for the range of a remote called an rc-bb1000. There's a picture of it too but I doubt I'll have it. Sorry. Will I will look for it though |

| If I did find it (unlikely-bet my daughter Hid it) I'd guess the battery would have leaked in it. I'll make an effort to find it but don't have a happy feeling that I'll succeed. |
