Hi Guys

First off, I want to say I hope you all (and your loved ones) are safe and stay that way. It has been a tough one, this virus. The entertainment industry shut down early, a lot of production has been scheduled for next year, so LA has been hit hard, aside from all the personal tragedies going on. Anyway, I just wanted to let you all know that all of you are in my thoughts.

Next, I got another crossover. Not too many pics came but it looked great and I thought I would probably get it home, clean it up and play it. They said they had just restrung the guitar. I purchased it on Reverb. Anyway, the guitar. It came to my office a few months ago. I opened it, glanced at it quickly and closed the case and it stayed that way in the garage.

Well, with all of this time on my hand, I thought I would give it a spin. You know, I have no clue how I missed the fact that there were only 5 pedals. And when I pulled it out, I couldn't imagine what I would find next. A couple of the springs probably went bad or were lost. Not sure if it was the last owner, only owner or whoever, but someone got some heavy steel coil springs and tried to use them in 2 pedal positions. One kind of worked but the other, since they couldn't get it to work, a knee lever was built that operated that changer, so they removed the pedal. The knee lever wasn't that great either. And areas were welded to the frame to operate this thing.

Next, I noticed the guitar crossover mechanism felt really loose. The rod broke so they bent the end of it and drilled the rod lever and bent it in. The fretboards looked like they were used to hold cigarettes and test sandpaper. I'm grateful for Tom Bradshaw who still has these in his inventory! Just got 2 new today.

So, I had to think about it. I just wanted to close the case, but I love guitars so much and I felt so bad for the years of abuse this poor baby got, that I decided to take on one heck of a project. If I can find the card decals and the side decals I will do a complete refinish. If not, well, let's say she will maintain some personality. Also the aluminum needs to be refinished. That will be easy enough.

Anyway, I will post some pics as the work progresses.

I've got to remember that line. Good for a chuckle.

Michael,

I recently sold one of these that I purchased as a pile of parts, made even worse by having been covered with "rosewood mica" contact paper. I enjoyed the project and got it working pretty darn well, but I couldn't get used to playing it. (Not that I can play any PSG very well).

My morning laugh Gary! Some of us are modest. Your guitar turned out really nice. Good job. Looking forward to the same for this one.
