Dang, that's a typo on my part. I fixed it. [Thanks, Jerry!]
Buddy said there will possibly be one, maybe two more changes.
I'm guessing he'll be playing it at the St. Louis convention over Labor Day weekend.

Buddy's guitar has the standard changer with the anti cabinet drop device, and Bill Lawrence 710 pickups.
Mighty fine sounding horn. And in those hands... |

What a combination.
Big E, Zum and 710's.
Top shelf all the way.
Randy, I'm glad he liked the 710's (I knew he would)
Hey Big E, You're lookin' younger than me now. Send me some water from that fountain Boss.

I see where this is an EVENT, but the discussion really belongs in PEDAL STEEL, so I'm moving it. |

I see in the upper background there is a Peavey VMPII tube preamp with the pilot light on. Anybody know if Buddy uses this to preamp the steel?? Those are very nice studio mic/line level pres. |

I inspected the anti-drop device on Billy Woo's new Zum U-12 ("the Penguin") a few months back; it seems to keep the changer axle from doing any inadvertent bending towards the tuning key end, thus pretty much doing away with cabinet drop. You get the most flex at the middle of the axle, so that's where the device is installed. Worked perfectly, imho.
New topic: do you suppose Buddy had to wait the usual 18 months for his new Zum?
Congrats, Buddy, Zums are great, I've always wanted one, now I MUST have one! Just wish Bruce would build a D-12 for me, dang.

Looks like the ZumSteel market is going to hit an all time high. And its already way up there. I knew if Buddy kept playing that thing, he would be ZumBuddy one day. [This message was edited by Steve Dodson on 14 April 2006 at 05:25 PM.] |

May I ask a dumb rookie question?
Doesn't Buddy have his own steel guitar company? If so, why in the world would he do this?
I don't understand. |

Well, finally I won't have to go out and buy what Buddy's playing! Been a happy ZumSteel camper for quite a while now. May give the 710's a shot, though. |
