In our Nation's capital, the mission of military bands has halted. Many of us are turning to reach the public by social media through live broadcasts-in an attempt to stay connected and lift spirits.

I play tuba in The U.S. Army Band "Pershing's Own" for 22 years and joined our country group a couple years ago (2&1/2 years ago I didn't know what a PSG was). We recorded a couple of sets yesterday and one was broadcast today.

Anyways I'll share the link if anyone is interested. I think the mix is off a bit, I'm not heard very well except in the second song "Blue Bayou" which comes out pretty well. To note, each of us belong to other groups (a concert band, ceremonial band, blues band, strings ens., vocal group, brass quintet) with a hectic mission load so we rarely get a chance to rehearse much. The lead singer (MSG Dean Woods) is an amazing bassoonist in the band.

I hope to help promote this group as much as I can-it's a ton of fun and it's the people's music!

Also check out The U.S. Army Field Band "Six String Soldiers" who are awesome, and of course The Navy Band "Country Current" who are truly world class (Henry Johns on PSG).

Here is the link for my group-and we are social distanced!

Thanks for the link John!
The mix was fine. You were excellent.
Especially liked Blue Bayou.
I never new about the armed forces pop culture bands till I got out of the Navy.

Thanks for the concert, Jon. That is an excellent group of great musicians. You are a fine steel player and I'm sure tuba player as well. I enjoyed your music and thank your for your service.
My dad played baritone horn in the Army Air Corp band in Florida during WWII. My brother Rex retired from the Army Old Guard Fife and Drum Corp. I served at Coleman Barracks, Sandhofen Germany with the US Army Aviation Maintenance Center.

Hey thanks for the replies, as a newbie I'm tickled to get a bit of encouragement.

And Mr. Jamieson thank you for your service as well as your family's military musical service. Small world, we consider the Fife & Drum Corps our sister service as we perform together and are located just down the road on the same post.
