Sound comparison done with my '65 re-issue tube
Twin Reverb, up against my new solid state Tone
Master Twin Reverb. To my ears the older tube
Twin Reverb sounds brighter and a little cleaner.

Curious as to what you set the TM attenuator at in that room?

Nick, I have 2 old twins and the new Tonemaster. While I agree the old Twins sound better, it's not enough to make me lug those monsters to a gig. Speakers make a difference too. My old favorite has JBL D120f speakers.

Larry I feel the same way. The lighter weight difference is what sold me on a Tone Master . . .

Brooks I ran the attenuator wide open on the 85w setting since the older Twin re-issue doesn't provide that option.

I have the TM Deluxe Reverb, and it is now my #1 amp. I use the cabinet emulator to go directly into my DAW and I can cut tracks at any hour without disturbing the family, and it sounds great. It’s plenty loud, and the attenuator works exactly as it should. The features and convenience make the amp a winner, and the sound is just the icing on the cake.

I will say that the amp had a noticeable improvement after about 50-60 hours on the speaker. It took a while to break it in but it was well worth it.
