Just wondering if there are brands of steels built at this scale length, and what would the pros and cons be,
Thanks

Supposedly, slants are easier on shorter scale guitars but I've always felt, the longer the scale, the longer the sustain.

The Rogue has a 21" scale. I had one and it was a nice little guitar. I sold it only because I got my money back on it and had the itch to build one with a similar body but with a longer scale and a different head. The rule is.......one guitar goes out and one comes in......limited space in my house and can't hang them on the wall! I want to build another one, so yes, this one is for sale.

That headstock also looks perfect for a 7 string guitar! |

Don't rub it in Mike! I thought of that about a week after it was finished. _________________ Currently own, 6 Groner-tone lap steels, one 1953 Alamo Lap steel, Roland Cube, Fender Champion 40 |

I actually have a 20.5" one (Morrell entry level). That's a bit extreme (it was my first). Not my preference...24-25" is about right on for my preferences.
The conventional wisdom is, as mentioned, easier slants with short scale but better tone/sustain with longer scale. IMO, practice can erase the difficulty with slants, but it won't change your sustain... (Cue Nigel Tufnel..."the sustain...listen to it...ahhhhh! you could go and have a bite, and ahhhh! you'd still be hearing it") _________________ Waikīkī, at night when the shadows are falling

Nic,
I spent several years playing a long scale (26") T-8 Stringmaster.
I had NO trouble making slants, but then, I didn't know any better!

I have one with a 19†scale, but I’m not sure that it counts...

I had a little National/Dobro mots that had a very short scale and it was real hard to play, i didn't keep it long. |

I bought this little steel guitar from a luthier in Australia. I'm not sure of the scale length but it's quite short.
