Hey folks, hard at it for a year and getting chapped like I did the first time around. Anyhow I'm a banjo guy http://irish5string.homestead.com/steel_1.mp3
I'd like serious crits on what I'm doing wrong if ya get a chance. I made this one up from the few licks I know. Thanks, Chris G
ps. It is hard to post something like this but what the heck

Hey Chris, you scared me when you said "I'm a banjo guy" but I won't hold that against you. Cool little recording sorta reminds me of Jerry Garcia in a way. He was a banjo player too.

I'm not one to judge Chris, but it sounded good to me. I agree about the possible influences mentioned.

Sounds great ! Keep up the good work.
I was wondering from the sound if you are resting your right hand on the bridge or maybe hooking your pinky around it as you pick ?

Chris.. as you know, I LIKE your playing... Your style is right in line with the style that turned my head around 30+ years ago....Its still how I play and it has served me well.

your recording does have that old school country rock type vibe, along with some west coast elements..
put some bass, drums, rythmn guitar on that ditty and it would be VERY cool... oh geez, sure stick some banjer on it too [not too much !!] ...

I do hear a little JG type feel in there as did the others... Intentional or not, I would wear it as a badge of honor. Always loved his playing... You have come a VERY long way since the first time I heard your playing Chris... fine job!! bob
