I've just started to dive into tab software for 10 and 12 string PSG in order to digitize my tab efforts for students. I found a lot of old info in the Forum about Tabledit (which I'm trying to learn with little success) and MuseScore. Anything new out there guys? All this stuff is really klunky and I'm tempted to just go back to writing it out, but I know someone has some new tips!

Greg Cutshall uses a spreadsheet program to make all of his Tabs. If you have used a spreadsheet before it pretty easy to work with. You just need to select 10 rows, one for each string and the number of columns to fill the page for the size font your using. In each row and column you enter the fret number and the letter for the pedals and or levers. Greg currently has a post in Pedal Steel with his Tabs. that you can check out.

Thanks for reminding me about Greg, I've always admired his tab and never knew the trick. I'll give it a shot!!

Tab|edit pedal steel tutorial:
https://www.tabledit.com/help/english/steel_guitar.shtml

The advantage of using software like Tab|Edit is that it provides playback and rhythmically correct notation along with the tab. The playback will sound pretty wonky depending on your sound card, but it’s an easy way to check for accuracy.

If I was doing tab for publication, Tab|Edit is what I would use and also what I would like to see when I’m learning something. After initial setup and investing a couple hours of learning curve time, I think it’s a good workable program.
