I have been thinking about installing and a lighter speaker in my NV112. After several inquires about what speaker would work best I thought I'd better actually look at the amp to see what was in it now (the amp was used bought from a forum member). It turns out that the current amp is an 'Eminence Patriot'. With that in mind, does anyone know what speaker Peavey originally used in the NV112?

| The factory Blue Marvel installed in the Nashville 112 was reportedly voiced specifically for that amp, need to check the model#....FYI: A few years back, Tommy White posted regarding the improvement in tone that he experienced by replacing the stock speaker with an Eminence EPS-12C and the reverb tank with a 'Mod' unit. Since that time, would imagine that many 112's have undergone speaker changes including my own. After installing the steel specific speakers (EPS-12C, Telonics, etc.)as well as others, finally found what for me is the perfect choice, the Warehouse Guitar Speakers 'WGS 112C/S'. To my ears, brings out the best in that amp. |

As I mentioned in other posts about a speaker for a NV112, the Telonics TSNEO won out for me. I bought a used NV112 and it came with the Telonics. I had a Travis Toy 12 and did comparisons (installed the TT12 in the NV112) and the Telonics seem to be not as bright and a little more on the low end. Both speakers were broke in (the Telonics comes pre-broken in).
I also found, the OPA2134 chip mod is not needed with the speaker change from the stock speaker. If the stock speaker is used then the OPA2134 chip mod will clean up the amp nicely. One or the other but not both (I tried it). |

The Eminence speaker has 'Patriot' on the magnet housing and also 'Lil Texas'. Has anyone heard of, or used this speaker?

I ran a few through mine, and ended up putting the Blue Marvel back in. The others I tried were the TT-12, TC Furlong, and an old 12 from an old Twin. They sounded good, but, so does the Marvel.
I've heard of the Patriot Lil Texas, but never had one.. |

I have 2 112's one with a TT-12 and the other with a Telonics. I actually use the one with the Telonics about 90% of the time. It is a little lighter that the TT-12 and has a tad more bass, however, (that is what they make bass knobs for. I use them in tandem when called upon, in that case it is very difficult to tell the difference.The one with the Telonics does not have a Fox mod in it. The one with the TT has the mod.
Either one works.

I talked with Billy Phelps, who many of you know from his years with Carter Guitars, and Billy told me that he and John Fabian, consulted with Peavey to develop the Blue Marvel speaker in the NV112. He described now they went through changes in speaker paper, voice coils, and magnets to get the tone they wanted. C6th bass notes were of concern as well as the traditional E9 tonal range.
I was considering the various options, as many of you are, and he said the stock speaker should do me well. Having said this, I did go with the EPS 12-C and the reverb tank Tommy White uses, and I like the sound. I think the stock sound is just as good, but about 7 lb. heavier. |

Not Little Texas, I use the Fender Gold Label Emmi's , I'm not sure what the parallel is to a STOCK EMMI speaker. Although many claim it is built on the LEGEND design. I do have a LEGEND 15, which overall is very similar in tone , all things being equal.
The 12's are 50 watt rated and lean bright with a reduced MID Range curve , compared to the stock PV speakers. I have these in ALL my amps .
This 12 in the N112 changed the entire mid range profile of the amp. ( much better to my ears) yes it is an 8 ohm speaker replacing a 4 ohm. I needed an ext speaker across the room, so I now use 2 x 8 ohms to bring me to the 4 ohm total load. And no I haven't noticed any volume decrease when the amp is used stand alone, no ext speaker.

I recently picked this 112 up used from a guy I know. I asked him what speaker was in it and he didn't know, he got the amp in a trade.
It sounds great, whatever the speaker is, it is staying.
No markings on it that I could see, the amp looks like brand new. Just thought it was odd that the speaker did not have a label of some kind.
According to the factory the amp was mfd. in 2011.

YES !
Its not brain science 
I installed a speaker jack in the rear cabinet lower panel, ( $5 EBAY) , I wired it to the existing speaker.
The speaker in the Cabinet is 8 OHMS, so with no ext speaker plugged in the load is 8 OHMs , spec for the amp is 4 ohms. It ain't gonna blow up. I expected a slight level drop, that didn't happen. Going UNDER 4 ohms may be a problem. This can stress the output drivers , excessive heat.
I've run this amp for near 2 years now with the 8 ohmer, sometimes no ext cab, sometimes with the ext cab. The 4 Ohm police never came and gave me a summons !
The Ext Speaker cab is the same speaker, 8 ohms. When it is plugged in... WOW, 4 ohms total load , spread across 2 speakers rather than 1.

Model #, who built it and ohms !
It would be nice to see a Blue Marvel Label , who can say why there is none.
There are plenty of brand name speaker cabs out there ( Fender as well) with no labels on the magnets, just stickers.
No big deal, the sticker gives us what we need to know.
