| Looking for direction I bought a used Webb 614-E that was being sold as Excellent Condition. When I received it I noticed first of all the the power cord was frayed in at least 10 places. When I turned the amp on it had a loud hum which didn't go away and almost all the pots are scratchy. Obviously, the buyer is defensive, and is willing to pay to correct any issues. My question is there any one out there that could do repair work on these amps. |

| I'm sure there are. Maybe someone will contact you here. Otherwise, you might check with Tom Bradshaw concerning contacts for repairs on your Webb. |

Check Ken Fox he had a great up grade for the Webb amps if he still doing them

| Since I see that you are in Pennsylvania, I would recommend Jim Sidney at Gourmet PA in Cranberry Twp, PA, just off Rt. 19 near McVay's Music store. They did excellent repair work on my Webb, and they have repaired several Webb amps over the years. Jim responds quickly to emails, and their web site is: http://www.gourmetpa.com/ |

| Ken Fox is a good resource, rebuilt mine and upgraded most after 35 years and knows them inside/out! I don't think he is currently doing them unfortunately. I was lucky enough to have mine gone through by him and now good to go for another 35 years!! |

| Hi Robert. I have not personally taken the chassis out of a Webb, but I think it is fairly easy. The front grill cloth pops right out taking some care with a flat blade screwdriver. Then remove the rear support panel that is just below the chassis for clearance. Then remove the 4 screws on the top of the amp that hold the in chassis in place, of course disconnecting the speaker wire connection. You may want to lay the amp down on its face at this point on something soft to protect the chassis and front knobs, to then pull the chassis out the rear. When Jim worked on mine, I just took the whole amp into his shop, since I only live about 30 miles away. |

| There are two types of Webb chassis. The later style was a single chassis easily removed. The older style is a two part and much harder to remove |

For the older style
Preamp:
-Remove the nut and washer from the remote reverb switch at the back of the amp
-Remove four screws on faceplate
-Slide the preamp back and disconnect the reverb cables at the plate just behind the preamp.
Disconnect the black ground wire (bullet style connector typical) that goes to the upper cab shielding.
-pull the preamp out along with the disconnected cable assembly that went to the remote reverb jack
Power amp:
-remove six screws that hold amp to chassis
-remove cable restraint to cabinet for power cord, if applicable. |
