My name is April and I am Benjamin Turner's wife. Many of you may know him from this forum, he was a member here for many years...as was his father before him. His father Sammy taught Benjamin to play PSG at around the age of 11. Benjamin was blessed with the God given talent to play this instrument from his heart. When he would play certain songs it would give you goosebumps. He was so very humble & didn't see how talented he actually was. I never got tired of hearing him play.
Some of you may know that over the past few years, Benjamin had many issues with diabetic complications. In 2019 he had an extremely lengthy hospital stay that required a below the knee amputation. Despite him being given very little chance of pulling through, after many prayers...he returned home. We were totally prepared for a long journey ahead. He was home for 5 weeks & they were some of the most wonderful days of our lives. He didn't care about the amputation, he was just thankful that so many people cared enough to pray for him, He felt so blessed to be alive, despite all of the negative doctors reports. He said it made him realize that "things" were unimportant, but family and friends were what mattered most. He was progressing well, enjoying the moment & looking forward to the future.
We had a wonderful Thanksgiving, but unfortunately that was short lived. On December 1, he had a heart attack and passed away 3 days later at the age of 37. He was such a good, honest, kind & loving man.
He had no life insurance & we have so amny expenses. It breaks my heart, but we need to sell his Emmons steel and his Webb amp. I will give you as much information as I can on them. I am not a musician, so my knowledge of the exact details is limited. I can say for certain that he took extreme care with his equipment!
It is an Emmons Lashley LeGrande II. It has 8 pedals & 4 Knee Levers
He purchased an aftermarket case for it. Its a black hard case with wheels & a handle...custom foam padding inside to fit this exact steel.
I will include photos & a link to several videos where you can hear him playing the steel for youself. Please check out the video links below...
The Webb amp is in excellent condition & he had it recovered a couple of years ago. It was custom covered in Fender tweed with oxblood grill cloth. I will include photos of it covered & also a photo in its original form.
I am not trying to get rich from this equipment, but as I said there are so many bills that I need to pay, so I really don't want to haggle too much on prices.
Also I would prefer someone close by that I could sell to, or someone visiting the Myrtle Beach area. We can ship, but it's just difficult for us to pack it for shipping.
We are asking $3750 for the steel & $850 for the Webb
I will message back as soon as I can, I am not used to selling on here...Ben usually took care of all of that. If awaiting a response from me, just please be patient with me

Just saw this and cannot put into words the sadness learning of Ben's passing. I met Ben while living in MB and I believe that is the amp he purchased from me. If so, it has some real provenance and should be sought after.
My heart goes out to his family and many friends. You could not meet a nicer guy. RIP Ben, you will be missed. _________________ Emmons Legrande Lacquer SKH D10 9/7 ('cause I'm an Emmons guy)

I visited with April this morning. She is a very nice lady. She says she's having good days and not so good days. She traveled with Ben to all his gigs so she's very knowledgeable about steel guitar and the like. She said she gave Ben pointers about his sound. If you look at videos you can see Ben had outstanding tone.
I purchased the Webb and gave her extra because I know she needs the money. She was very happy to not have to ship it.
She's really hoping to not have to ship the steel and Myrtle Beach is a great place to visit so a trip there would be worthwhile... she will ship if necessary.
I would encourage anyone to make a fair offer on this really nice LeGrande II. I'm sure she will respond if you do. |

As the former owner of this Emmons I can say it is as good it looks I only traded it because of Knee Surgery and couldnt handle the weight. Really wish I could afford to buy it back. |
