So when I bought my Fessenden, the vertical knee lever lowers the 6th string only. It was supposed to be set up to lower the 10th as well, but for some reason it doesn’t. So with just lowering the 6th, the lever seems super easy. There’s no resistance. Is it possible to add a 5th string lower a whole tone? Not sure if that’s possible. and if it’s not, id like to lower the 10th. What do I need to do to accomplish this? Thanks

Sure you can lower 5th, 6th and 10th string a whole note together on a lever, but why do you want to? That combo is what's known as a "Franklin change", and is usually put on a 4th pedal.
Lowering 6th string only on a lever is more of a norm, and most players find it much more useful that way. Then some of us lower 5th and 10th string a whole note on a separate pedal for those more rare cases when it make musical sense to lower those two or all three strings together.
Anyway; you need bellcranks, pullrods and tuning-nuts for adding changes on more strings on an existing lever.
For adding changes on an extra pedal you need all that pluss an extra bellcrank shaft, a complete pedal mount, and a pedal-rod.
Not a problem either way as long as you know how to mount and adjust the additions. |

Gregory the changes you are talking about are pretty much the norm in todays set-ups. Post a clear pic of the underside of your Fessy, the parts needed may already be there or someone may be able to advise you as to what you need. Also, what is it you want on your steel to do.
A pic or two would help. |

well I drop 5 and 6 on the V lever on my Legrande II !
I rarely if ever used drop 5 on the V lever but always wanted 7 Raise and 6 Lower. I placed 6 lower on the V lever, than added the 5 whole tone drop.
Evidently I never read the rule book and I'm sure some will tell me what I am missing !

Tony this is what I got on my L-II
Vertical lever Lower 5 & 6 1/2 tone
RKL I Raise 1 & 2 Lower 6
RKR I Raise 7 & Lower 2 & 9
My First Pedal is the Franklin Lowers 5 & 6 & 10 whole tone
