"Raisin' the Dickens" seems to be a pretty popular tune for C6th as well.

I try to think of songs that might not have been done on steel on the original recording, songs that seem to have that C6th harmony. This morning I was playing around with BEFORE THE NEXT TEARDROP FALLS and CHERRY PINK AND APPLE BLOSSOM WHITE.

Drew-Thanks for the good post
How about some Jazz and big band stuff. Duke Ellington's ,Sophisticated Lady,Mood indigo,In my solitude, Satan Doll. I can list almost 1000 I have played and still do. Several already posted, all good songs for C6

Caravan,Cherokee,Here's that Rainy Day, Unforgettable,Body and soul, Laura, What's New,Moonlight in Vermont,The nearness of you,The shadow of your smile, Out of nowhere,All the things you are,Moon Glow/Picnic, Woody Herman"s "Four Brothers", Early Autumn.. Gone with the Wind, Tangerine,Small Hotel, Talk of the town, You go to my head...I am going to stop right there to save some of b0b space here. But although I can play them on C6, I use E6 instead, same setup.....al

Stormy Monday, Whipping Post, Every Breathe You Take, Iron Man (bossa nova style), the Pink Panther theme, Beethoven's 6th (just the "Bugs Bunny in the idyllic woods" part), My Favorite Things, Frosty the Snowman, The Flintstones Theme, Eleanor Rigby, In the Hall of the Mountain King, The Girl from Ipanema, ummm - what can't be done, if you quit your job, dump your friends, get off the stupid internet and try, try, try?

Um... seems we've strayed a bit from the original question about "must-know" songs for C6. Not just songs that somebody must know!

Drew, just my opinion but I don't think there are any particular "must know" songs for C6th. It is no different than E9th, you just need to know your way around on C6th so you can play whatever you need to on it. We are not fully expanding our playing until we can play whatever song comes along on either neck if we are playing a double neck. It will sound different but should be recognizable.

As an E9th hack who has only recently acquired a C6th deck, I'll settle for that.
