I bought a second hand Telonics volume pedal some time ago and I noticed an interesting issue with it. When keeping the pedal in the exact same position and then turning the pedal sideways or upside down it will affect the volume. Sometimes louder and sometimes totally out. It does not seem to bother the playing as long as a good "spot" is found. I have sent a couple of emails to Telonics concerning this, but no answer whatsoever. Anyone else experienced this?

I have never tried using my Telonics pedal upside down or side ways.I love my Telonics pedal.

Peter,
I have two Telonics pedals and have never had one issue with either one of them. To me they are "The Best" Steel Guitar volume pedal, hands down. Sorry you are having issues but it truly must be something "out of the norm" going on with your pedal. Be patient as I have never had anything but good dealings with Dave at Telonics, he'll fix you up no doubt.
PS: make sure your method used & information to contact Dave is correct, sometimes little typos make a world of difference. Maybe a phone call to Dave's business would be a better route. Best of luck my friend....it'll happen!

Being a Telonics dealer for over 5 years now, I can tell you, customer service is what they are all about.
Emails usually answered in 24 hours and phone calls answered by a live person.
Be sure you are using the correct info.

I copied this from the manual. Maybe this is what is going on with your pedal...
"The pedal is designed to be used on a fairly level floor surface (unless
inclined upward and/or cocked slightly sideways when attached to pedal boards or when using an
Emmons pedal-board mount). Its attitude control system allows for such usage, but if the pedal
is placed in an attitude which exceeds those normal limits, two things happen; first the volume is
reduced to a fixed, low volume and secondly, the blue LED will blink rapidly. The unit will
revert to normal operation as soon as it is returned to a valid orientation and attitude."

I have a Telonics multi taper (I use #6) on one guitar and an old Ernie Ball on the other.
It's like having a Rolls Royce and an old VW bug.

Thanks guys for your responses. It's good to see inputs from so many wise guys (pun intended).
Stu Schulman: Of course I play sideways and upside down. Haven't you seen my show yet?
Asa Brosius: Quirk or problem? No, just fear that it could happen in a live situation.
Randy Owens: Thank you, your answer is probably explaining the issue, except for the blinking light. Blue light does not blink as fas as I could notice. The pedal didn't come with a manual as I bought it second hand, otherwise I might have read about that.
Regarding the emails to Telonics I used the email provided on their website (proaudioinfo@telonics.com). I sent the first email December 30th and I even got a response from sophie@telonics.com that they are closed for the holidays and will get back after January 2nd. But no answer even if I was also interested in buying a pickup at that time. Second email sent February 10th and still no comments. But thanks to mr Owens response the case may now be closed.
Regarding other Telonics products I also have the rack model amp with two 15 inch speaker cabinets and a combo amp with one 15 inch speaker. I am fairly satisfied with both of them except for an annoying hum (could be the sound from the fan). That is not a problem in a live situation but in a quiet recording studio this is bothering me and I have to use another amp.

If that doesn't work, I'll gladly send you a copy. I'd also recommend downloading the FP-100 Toolbox program from Telonics if you enjoy experimenting with settings etc.

Joshua, I don't think it's a communication issue even if english is my third language  I received an automatic response to my first email, so that should be enough proof that my message was received. Whatever the reason is the fact remains that I haven't got an answer.

Peter, this is totally off-topic but I'm curious - what would your second language be? Swedish, Estonian?
The Telonics pedal is undoubtedly the best and I love mine, although it is way the most expensive. It never leaves the house and I gig with my Hilton which is easily the best value for money.
The only one of the many facilities I use on the Telonics is the multi-taper. Oddly the closest match to the Hilton (at least to my foot and ears) is one of the Emmons settings, but maybe the guitar it's on has slightly different geometry which affects my perception.

Ian, my first language is Swedish and my second is Finnish. Is school I also had English, German and French but that was over 40 years ago.
I also have a bunch of Hilton pedals and they have served me really well.
