Hey there guys, recently I came into this lovely double neck lap steel (lent long term from friends)
I've found a couple of issues electronically, I wondering if anyone could help with.
The problem is i'm getting volume drop on both necks when the switch is in centre (both pickups active) position. When switched to a single neck on either one, both are louder, its only when both are live the volume drops.
I've already given all the electrics a clean and lube, I'm wondering if I might need to replace the switch, or is there something else i'm missing?
Any help or pointers would be much appreciated!

When both are on the two coils put load on each other – especially hard load since those 8-string PUs are quite low in impedance, so the volume-drop you are experiencing is quite normal. |

Yep. They all do that. At least all that I've ever played. Any idea what brand it is? The tuner buttons and sloped front pickups remind me of an old Teisco I used to own. Your fretboards are loosely based on the old National totem pole but it's obviously not a National. Do your friends have a story that goes with it? Neat guitar!

Every double neck I have played loses about 25% volume and the tone thins out when you put the switch in the middle. Most multi neck players I know keep all necks on at all times so they can jump around between them. You just have to compensate for it with your amp settings. |

Thanks for the info guys, I guess i'll just have to get used to the volume drop!
Its branded Star - anyone know much about them? Haven't dug deep yet to see, its a heavy old piece, and came with a tripod style leg set, which are currently slipping so I have it on the keyboard stand! |

Any chance it’s German? The knobs look like a Hofner Beatle Bass’. _________________ Too much junk to list... always getting more. |
