Can anyone give me the scales for tuning the front and back necks on a D-8 Fender. I can't tune the outside neck in E because of the the way the strings go through the changer. It breaks a lot of strings. Would it be D, maybe? Sure would appreciate some help! Thanks, Jack.

So many were tuned differntlly it's hard to REALLY say for sure.
But a C6 out side might be a good guess with E7 or E13 back neck.

Posting the guesses at the pulls on each neck,
if it's a pedal unit, would hlep .

Some people tuned the front neck of the Fender to D9th because of the string breakage problem. Just lower the E9th a step.

You could try making the after~market open~hooks that fender used by purchacing the Oval-C hooks found at an auto upolstry~shop that were/are used to install seat~covers. Just run one trough the hole where the string normally goes and then bend it closed far enough to catch the ball~end of the string. That might get you up to Eb9 or possibly even E9. It certainly would also cut down on string~breakage with a D9-Tuning. BTW: I saw an old D–8 Bigsby the other day that was tuned E9:
1-F#
2-D#
3-G#
4-E
5-B
6-G#
7-F#
8-E

Guy's, I really appreciate the help. I tried the way John suggested and it seems to work. Haven't broken one yet! It sure is great to have all this help. Jack.
