I’ve used a Peterson Stroboflip for many, many years but now I find I’d like to get another tuner to keep with another pedal steel setup. I’ve looked at the StrobPlus HD’s. I have some basic questions, please.

1) How long does the charge on the lithium batteries last?
2) Suppose you get to the gig and the battery has lost its charge. What do you owners do in that situation?
3) How long does it take to recharge it?
4) Does it come with a protective case or bag? If not, how do you guys protect it from damage when packing it away, etc,?
5) Any thoughts from those of you who have made the switch from a StroboFlip?

Thanks for your help.

Eric..1)The charge will last quite some time but to be on the safe side, always charge mine the night before a job. 2) If you happen to forget however, the unit can be charged in the car while on the way if your vehicle is equipped with a 12V outlet (or actually on the job if a plug is handy and you have the adapter)..3)Amount of time should depend on how low the battery is before charging begins..4) The original factory box provides adequate protection or any small container (found in the kitchen or fishing department at Walmart)should do nicely.

Positive: Built in stand is a nice feature or shares the same leg mount as the StroboFlip.
Negative: Unlike most tuners, the StroboPlus does not automatically turn off when the cable is removed from the input so always best to check before packing up.

This was my concern about the tuner and why I didnt buy one. I ended up buying the peterson stobostomp tuner. It uses a replaceable 9volt battery. I use a rechargeable 9volt that last about 4 four hour gigs with the tuner on the entire time. I always keep a spare battery in my bag , So I NEVER have to worry about a dead battery.

Why do you keep it on the whole time?
I just turn my Peterson on to tune and then turn it off.

Eric, I was initially hesitant about the battery, but it has turned out to be a total non-issue. The charge lasts me for months. I only turn it on for a few minutes at a time to tune, but it does have an auto-off feature after 10 minutes. (The backlight turns off after 10 seconds of non-use) The manual says that it takes 2 hrs to fully charge the battery. If you're really concerned about showing up at a gig and finding no charge, Peterson does sell an AC adapter. Looks like you still need to supply the USB cable. https://www.petersontuners.com/shop/item/USB-AC-AdapterCharger#&ui-state=dialog Honestly, I doubt that it'll ever happen, but I've kept the PitchLabPro app on my phone, and just programmed the Peterson offsets into it.

The StroboPlusHD comes in a heavy duty cardboard box with magnetic closure. I think it's more for presentation, but some folks might use it for a carrying case. I've started carrying my legs and pedal bar in a separate bag (to cut down on weight) My StroboPlus HD fits snugly in the case where the legs used to go, protected by the plush interior. If I had to carry it separately, I'd probably sew up a little bag or use a wool sock.

I used one for many years. It holds a charge for a couple weeks if you use it just to quickly tune up at a typical two night weekend gig. It does have an auto off feature if you don't hit a string after a couple of minutes.

If your battery is low,you can use the cable that came with it and purchase a USB charger and charge the tuner while you play the gig.

It only takes around an hour to recharge it.

Hope that helps.

There is both a power switch, and an auto-off. I manually turn it off after I've tuned. (Why would I leave it on?) If you forget to turn it off, the auto-shutoff kicks in after 10 minutes of inactivity.

Are you talking about the StroboStomp or the StroboHD?

Protective case
Home Depot sells a Husky 4inch zippered belt pouch that makes a great protective case for the strobe plus hd .it has a little Velcro flapped compartment on the front that is perfect for storing tuning wrench string winder etc.It costs $10
I also like the metronome mode that can be downloaded from the Peterson web site.

You can also find small camera bags that are a good fit for the HD.

Very Happy with mine.

1. The charge lasts a very long time. I change mine about 3 times a year. That would be different if you leave it on all the time while playing.
2. I carry a micro USB charge cable and android phone style charger block to charge it.
3. Recharges in about 2 hours max.
4. No case, but I picked up a padded/insulated lunch bag from the dollar store, that works fine.
5. Never used the flip, been happy with this so far.
